The Northern Sea, also known the North Sea and the Storvand Sea, was a large expanse of saltwater located north of the Mouse Territories. For most mice it is uncharted and unknown. The island of Ildur and the archipelago of the Ebon Kingdom were located in the Northern Sea, some distance north of the Territories.[1]
The Northern Sea facilitated a prosperous sea-trade between the mice of Dawnrock, Darkwater, Port Sumac and Rustleaf, which were located along its shoreline. The Mouse Guard outposts of Calogero and Frostic also stood on its shores.
History[]
In 1115, the three mice Em, her nephew Celanawe and the captain Conrad went on a journey across the sea on the Red Snapper. The first few days took them away from the cove of Port Sumac and past the coasts of Calogero and Frostic. Their journey had hot summer days and rainy nights. On the 17th day there were no birds in sight. Several more days later, their food supplies had run out. Conrad was able to stock on fish with his harpoon. Not long after that, the travelers ran into a severe storm that capsized the ship and sent them all into the water and being washed ashore on Ildur island.
Some time later Celanawe and Conrad sail back across the sea in a watercraft built by the ferrets. Guided by both Em's and Luthebon's maps, the two mice sail across the chains of islands to avoid the open sea. Several months later they make it to the shores of Calogero where they go their separate ways.
